Causes Of Skin Disorders

Some skin conditions have no known cause. Many permanent skin disorders may arise from a combination of genetic susceptibility and environmental stressors, such as illness, allergens, or exposure to irritants.

Common known causes of skin disorders include:

 

  • bacteria trapped in skin pores and hair follicles
  • fungus, parasites, or microorganisms living in the skin
  • viral infections
  • weakened immune system (with or without coexisting infection)
  • contact with allergens, irritants, or another person’s infected skin
  • genes and inherited susceptibility
  • illnesses affecting the thyroid, immune system, kidney, and other body systems
  • diet and lifestyle
