Congestive Heart Failure-Symptoms

Common symptoms for Congestive Heart Failure are:

  1. Shortness of breath with activity, or after lying down for a while
  2. Cough
  3. Swelling of feet and ankles
  4. Swelling of the abdomen
  5. Weight gain
  6. Irregular or rapid pulse
  7. Sensation of feeling the heart beat (palpitations)
  8. Difficulty sleeping
  9. Fatigue, weakness, faintness
  10. Loss of appetite, indigestion

Other symptoms may include:

  1. Decreased alertness or concentration
  2. Decreased urine production
  3. Nausea and vomiting
  4. Need to urinate at night

ISome patients with heart failure have no symptoms. In these people, the symptoms may develop only with these conditions:

  1. Abnormal heart rhythm (arrhythmias)
  2. Anemia
  3. Hyperthyroidism
  4. Infections with high fever
  5. Kidney disease
