Model Mrinalini Sharma’s Secrets to Fitness

Here are the tips that model and Bollywood actor Mrinalini Sharma follows for fitness and healthy living

My workout regime:
I am quite a fitness person. I used to gym regularly but after a point I found it very monotonous. So I decided to switch to something else that was fun and at the same time would keep me fit. That is when I discovered Kickboxing. My teacher Shaikh Shafiq-Ur-Rehman who is an MMA champion and instructor showed me a whole different perspective on fitness. Kickboxing workout is a full body workout so no part of the body is left immune while kickboxing. Also, it’s a great self defense practice tool so it’s helpful even when I step out of my work out shoes! I now Kick box five times a week for an hour at least without fail. Besides that I also go for a jog every once in a while with my iPod on, it’s a great stressbuster.

My diet:
I believe in a complete healthy diet and crash dieting is a strict no-no for me. Eating the right food at the right time and the right quantity is what’s important. My diet consists of about four or five small meals a day. I make sure I drink lots of water (boiled) first thing in the morning and also in the entire day too. It’s the best way to detox! My breakfast is toast and egg with a glass of fresh juice or a high fiber cereal. If I feel hungry in between I grab a milkshake or some fruits. Lunch is home food with two chapatti’s (that is, when I’m at home). An evening snack would be fruits yet again or a salad. And for dinner I attempt eating at home again.

Happiness quotient:
A holiday by the sea! It’s my perfect idea of happiness. I love the ocean; it gives me a feeling of freedom. For me, happiness is a state of mind. We all have it within us to be happy, but often we get so caught up in everyday life that we neglect important parts of ourselves that bring us contentment and even joy.

My idea of relaxation:
For me my home is the most relaxing place. It’s where I relax and unwind… by reading a good book or watching a good film. I am an avid reader. I read thrillers, courtroom dramas, espionage and murder mysteries and historical thrillers. I am also a huge movie buff. So if I have a whole day to myself I love to watch movies back to back… And music is something that instantly changes my mood; I listen to all types of music ranging from Bollywood to hip hop to lounge to jazz and blues. Another way of relaxing for me is quite often having my friends over for dinner and some fun conversation…
